Welcome to our practice! I’m Dr. Alex McIlvaine, and I’m thrilled to be serving my hometown of Wadsworth. My journey in dentistry began with a strong foundation at Wadsworth High School (Class of 2004), and continued with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree from the University of Kentucky. While I might have a touch of Wildcat blue in my heart now, I’ll always be a Buckeye at my core! During my time at UK, I was honored to serve as class president for all four years and received the American College of Dentist Outstanding Student Leader Award.
My personal life is just as fulfilling. I’m married to my incredible high school sweetheart, Lori (Hanna) McIlvaine, also a Wadsworth graduate. Together, we’re blessed with four wonderful children: Josephine (12), Porter (10), Gale (6), and our newest addition, Hazel (born in 2024). My family roots run deep in Wadsworth, with my parents, Steve (Judge-retired) and Sarah (teacher-retired) McIlvaine, also residing here.
Giving back to the community is a passion of mine. Lori and I are deeply involved in Wadsworth. I’m a proud member of the Wadsworth Chamber of Commerce, a member and past president of the Wadsworth Lion’s Club, Chairman of the Wadsworth Salvation Army, and a board member for the Wadsworth YMCA. You might also recognize us as the driving force behind Wadsworth Thriller – Lori masterminds the event, and I have the (questionable!) honor of becoming Michael Jackson for a night!
Above all, I’m committed to providing exceptional, cutting-edge dental care to my patients. I dedicate hundreds of hours each year to continuing education, ensuring I can bring the latest advancements and conservative techniques to Wadsworth. I look forward to welcoming you to our practice!

Hello, I’m Shannon! I am a Wadsworth native, and I’m living out my life passion through dentistry; by meeting and caring for new people and helping them live a healthy and happy lifestyle! I attended Wadsworth High School (2006), obtained my bachelors of science at the University of Dayton (2010) and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The Ohio State University (2014). While in school, I was involved in multiple professional organizations and took part in dental outreach programs that greatly helped form me into the dentist I am today!
Connecting oral health to overall health drives my “why,“ and I love to educate patients. I also thoroughly enjoy helping people create their most beautiful smiles and faces. Since joining McIlvaine Burton Dentistry in 2018, I have implemented many esthetic services into the practice. I am a member of the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and have taken pretty much any course they have to offer. I love working with patients to help them achieve their goal esthetics and beauty!
Personally, my husband Nick and I love spending our time outside work with our two sons, Miles (born April 2022) and Luke (born May 2024.) They are the true light of our lives! Nick and I met at the gym, so exercising is still a large part of our hobbies. We also enjoy being outside with our sons and playing with our rescue kittens, Miley and Chloe. We are so grateful to be settled in our hometown and to be a part of the Wadsworth community!

Hey! I’m Shelley. I have been in dentistry for over 34 years, 30 of those years have been spent here at McIlvaine Dentistry. I was born in Canada and moved to the US at the age of 9. I lived in the Nashville area for 4 years then moved to Ohio for middle and high school. After moving back to Canada for a brief stint, I decided to go to dental hygiene school in Lima, Ohio. I started my career here in 1992, which is when I met my husband. We have been married for 20+ years and have one daughter. In my spare time I like to craft; everything from woodworking to quilting. My husband and I also enjoy visiting different wineries. If you see me around at one of these wineries, please feel free to say ‘Hi’.

Hi! I’m Debbie and I have been a dental hygienist here at McIlvaine Dentistry since graduation from The Ohio State in 1984. I was born and raised in Wadsworth and married my husband Mark in 1985. He’s the owner of Thompson Excavating, a family run company that has been in business for over 50 years. We have four children. Our daughters Olivia and Hilary (son in law Sean) live locally, our daughter Natalie lives in California and our son Jack lives in Florida. I enjoy hiking, traveling and going to Disney with my family. I recently joined the grandparents club and love being Nana and spending time with sweet Sybil. I am proud to have developed so many wonderful relationships with our patients and to have worked all these years with excellent doctors and staff providing quality care.

Hi, I’m Holly! I reside in Sterling. I have been with McIlvaine Dentistry now for 30 years. I have one daughter and 2 grandsons, they are 11 and 1. Besides hanging out in the dental office, I enjoy being outdoors, camping, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.

Hi, I’m Bekah! I’m a lifelong resident of Wadsworth. I have been in the field of childcare since 2012 and have provided child care for the office staff for the last five years. I have two dogs, Teddy and Stanley. In my free time, I love watching Nascar, court cases, and spending time with friends and family.

Hi, my name is Sadie! I graduated from Norton High School in 2014. I’ve worked in childcare since 2019 and started doing staff childcare at the practice in 2023. At the beginning of 2025, I also became the social media coordinator. I am a proud auntie to three beautiful nieces. I’m the preschool coordinator/teacher at my church. I enjoy spending time with my family and exploring new places, especially if there are fields of flowers.
